Fanning“I WAS just sitting there and I felt something grab or get stuck in my leg rope and I instantly just jumped away,” Fanning explained.

Currently making waves around the interwebs is the visuals of Mick Fanning fending off a great white shark in Jeffreys Bay, South Africa.

US commentators were in awe of Fannings very “Australian” way dealing with the frightening situation.

“Fanning was not injured at all, and was cool enough to give us the most Australian quote possible,” wrote SBNation’s Tom Ziller, referring to Fanning’s statement: “I punched him in the back.”

“One thing is certain from this whole attack — Mick Fanning just became the world’s biggest badass for fighting a shark live on television and winning without suffering injury.”

Continue reading »]]> Tom Carroll Paddle Surf (TCPS) represents the very latest in design, innovation and hydrodynamic performance for the surf SUP genre.

Unique design elements, along with the latest in material technology, feature heavily across two distinctive SUP models.

“My new range of SUP’s offers a totally different feel to anything else on the market. They don’t restrict the way I like to ride waves, and I’m really excited to share these boards with likeminded ocean lovers”.

The TCPS Long Grain comes in two sizes, 10’4″ and 11’0″, and encourages a more laid-back, longboard style and approach to riding small to medium size waves.

In contrast, the TCPS Loose Leaf comes in five sizes, and provides remarkable control and response for the intermediate to advanced paddler looking to ride waves with no limitations.

The new range of Tom Carroll Paddle Surf SUP’s will be available in the USA from Jan 2015 and will be hitting Aussie and NZ stores in early December 2014. View the complete range

SONNY MILLER, 1960-2014

RIP SONNY-MILLERSonny Miller, passed away Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. He was 54.

Sonny was a staple of the surfer magazine shows of the late 80’s that sparked a passion for surfing that led him shooting some of the coolest surf films ever made including Searching for Tom Curren, Feral Kingdom, The Search, Lords of Dogtown and Tripping the Planet.

Later in his career Sonny even jumped into some big hollywood productions including work on Die Another Day (2002), The Big Bounce (2004), Blue Crush ( ) and Riding Giants (2004).

Of course we’ll always keep looking back at the carefree surfing worlds he captured, and for that he was a master.

R.I.P Sonny. Keep smiling.
