Our adventures in New Zealand wouldn’t have been possible without – you guessed it – New Zealanders. Lucky for us we came across two kiwis that redefine the parameters of surf exploration. You couldn’t ask for a better mix of experience, blind courage, and good humour.

So in this week’s video we wanted to give you more of a look at Doug Young and Shayne Baxter, since there wasn’t enough time in the show.

Hi guys,

Well the show has aired, another Storm Surfers chapter completed. Thanks to everyone that helped out and we hope you guys got to catch the show! It will keep airing on Discovery Channel over the next few weeks so you’ve got a second chance if needed.

Hi guys,

Well this is it. Storm Surfers New Zealand will premiere on Discovery Channel next Wednesday July 14th at 8.30pm. Here’s the promo.

Make sure you and your next-door neighbour watch it to check out what goes down when Ross, Tom and Ben venture to the land of the nervous sheep – it’s a pretty wild ride, full of ups and downs, and some brutal storm action.

There will also be ‘encore’ screenings on Discovery well into August so please tune in, and get the ratings up, so we can make more of these shows!

If you miss the show or want to gift it, you’ll be able to buy Storm Surfers New Zealand on DVD at the site from July 15th.

To launch the new show we had our own little screening last week with family, crew and friends. Much fun was had, with froth forming for future Storm Surfers projects!

First up: check out the spread on Storm Surfers New Zealand in the latest TRACKS magazine on stands now. It has Mick Fanning on the cover.

This weeks video is an insight to the linchpin of the Storm Surfers world – R2T2 – an unheard of member of the group, kinda like George Martin was to the Beatles. This guy is a trooper, hellman, renegade, idiot savant. He doesn’t say much, but does a lot.

Don’t forget Storm Surfers New Zealand premieres soon on July 14th on Discovery Channel. If we want to make more shows we need as many eyeballs as we can get, so tell your mates!

Hi guys,

It almost goes without saying that big wave surfing is treacherous, and with so many crew in the water on a Storm Surfers shoot, not to mention two frothing maniacs leading the way, certain precautions need to be taken because anything can and does go wrong. This week’s microdoc gives some insight to the difficult job of keeping track of Ross and Tom in the water with Bondi Lifeguard and water safety officer on Storm Surfers Dangerous Banks, Rodd ‘Box’ Kerr.

On a serious note, our best wishes go out to another Bondi Lifeguard and member of the Storm Surfers family Kobi Graham who recently suffered a broken neck surfing OURS in Sydney. Kobi is currently in hospital recovering. He worked as water safety on our most recent missions to New Zealand and Pedra Branca, and is an accomplished big wave surfer bagging some of the best waves on the Pedra trip.

As we’re getting closer to the premiere of Storm Surfers New Zealand we thought we’d take a quick trip down memory lane and put out some music and images from the first Storm Surfers adventure to Dangerous Banks. Storm Surfers is all about trying to get a new angle and making chasing big waves as entertaining way as we can. This week’s micro-doc covers a bit of tech-talk for all you camera nerds out there who might be curious about how the show is shot.

We know it may not be Ross in a wipeout or Tom crashing a car, but that stuff happens all the time so we thought we’d show you something different by giving you the lowdown on some of the custom gear that is used on the show.

Some of you may have seen this before on ‘60 Minutes’ but for those who haven’t, here is a sneak peek of part of the up-coming Storm Surfers episode airing July 14th on Discovery Channel. Amongst a bagful of missions in the show is this one to Pedra Branca, the first time it has ever been surfed. Ross, Tom and Ben venture out there with local chargers Marti Paradisis, the Holmer-Cross brothers and Bronte boy Kobi Graham – and come up against a force of nature.

Hey guys,

Here’s your latest Storm Surfers micro-doc filmed at a session at Gallows and Cow Reef in West OZ.  Our aim has always been to make a documentary about big wave surfers rather than a surfing documentary, so we’re constantly looking for new angles to cover the action and get the audience right in there. This week however, the camera creates problems for surfing’s Odd Couple and perhaps gets the audience a little too intimate as Tom has a mishap and turns on Ross. After a 25-year marriage, will it have a happy ending? Will counselling be required?

Hey guys

This week the Storm Surfers gives you an insight into Tom Carrolls passion for foam and fibre glass. We take you through Toms extensive surf board quiver that’s bordering on ridiculous. The only problem with collecting so many boards is that “you can only ride one at a time…”

In the coming weeks the storm surfers will be showing you a few archival microdoc’s to get everybody up to speed with how the characters and the brand have developed. Next week we’ll be taking you to Pedra Branca in the middle of the ocean off the bottom of Tassie so be sure to sign up any mates that you think would like to check it out.
